A summary of the information about our wedding for our international guests

Dear guests coming from other parts of the world than Scandinavia!

First of all, we are very grateful that you are able to join us on our special day! Your presence will make it even more special!

The wedding takes place at Holckenhavn slot, on the island of Funen in Denmark on Tuesday 31. July. The wedding ceremony will take place in the beautiful little church in the castle at 15 hours, followed by a reception in the castle's courtyard and then the wedding dinner and party.

On Monday 30. July we will have a get-together from 19-22 for all the guests to meet and get to know each other. We plan to hold the get-together on the beach nearby the castle. There will be light food and drinks and hopefully it will be a beautiful summer evening. In case of the weather not being on our side, we will hold the party inside. It will be just as fun, but please check the blog a few days prior to the 30. July for the final location of the party!

You will probably arrive by plane at Kastrup international airport. Are you flying from the South of Europe, several airlines have cheap tickets if you start booking now:). From Kastrup, there are direct trains to Nyborg. The train ride takes approximately 1,5 hours from Kastrup/Copenhagen. Holckenhavn castle is 8-9 minutes by taxi away from the train station in Nyborg. Many trains from Kastrup/Copenhagen pass by Nyborg, but please check schedule and platform at the airport. If you come by car, call us and we will explain.  

Holckenhavn castle is a very well preserved renaissance castle dating back to 1579. The wedding will be held here. We will stay at the castle together with our near family and best man and maid of honor. For the rest of our guests, there are several options for accomodation. We have booked rooms at Hotel Hesselet in Nyborg and at Best Western Nyborg Strand. Both hotels are located near each other, near the beach, as well as the train station, and they are priced somehow similarly. However, they are slightly different in style: Hotel Hesselet being an exclusive, almost Asian looking hotel, the Best Western Nyborg Strand is more a conference hotel, but with light and modern rooms and supposedly a very good kitchen.

The price for a double room at Hotel Hesselet is 980,- DK per night including breakfast. For further information, see www.hesselet.dk. The room prices at Best Western Nyborg Strand are 860,- DK for a single room and 960,- DK for a double room. This is per night, including breakfast. Would you like to give a speech during the wedding dinner, please notify Pål's sister Ingrid who will be the toastmaster of the evening: +47 99 25 60 94/ingrid.fredriksen@gmail.com. Norwegian traditional weddings are often filled with speeches. We want to tell you this in advance, as probably most of the speeches will be held in Norwegian. However, everybody at the wedding speaks English, so in between speeches you will be able to have interesting conversations with your neighbors around the table:).

If any of you have allergies or special dietary needs, please let us know as soon as possible.

Finally, we want to pinpoint that the fact that you will come to Denmark and celebrate with us in itself is the best wedding gift we can imagine.
